PROJECT TITLE: Cumbria Communication Project

THE PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Using a mix of home-based, nursery-based and centre-based learning with practitioner training, parental involvement and a portable curriculum tool via a digital app, the Cumbria Communication Project works in partnership with four charitable organisations over three years and aims to help children and their families develop the language and communication skills they need to start school and succeed in their education. Additional funding via GCLS has expanded the project in Barrow (in the top 20% most deprived districts in England), funding iPads and internet data to enable the practitioner to work more effectively with families and provide additional support to improve the parent-child relationship.
